The year of the enterprise’s foundation (1999) was declared by ONU “International Year of Elderly People”, because of that the first enterprise’s great project was TiO’s Project – Elderly Age On line (Terceira Idade On line). The Project had a pecuniary support from the National Commission of the International Year of Elderly People and it was the very first one, and it still is the only one in Portugal.

The operationalization of this project became in the creation of a Portal on Internet to support elderly citizen. This project might be consulted online on the address: www.projectotio.net. On this page can be found several information about areas of interest for this population gender, such as: health, leisure, rights and other interest matters to the elderly citizen. The project maintains its original objectives of contributing for the promotion of the seniors’ life quality, through the new information and communication technologies, searching to interfere at the elderly people information level, social isolation that many are in and promotion of autonomy and social participation of this society group.

In relation at this project, in 2000, His Excellency of Science and Technology Minister, has referred as being “an initiative of great interest which integrates itself on the basic and universal principles defined by the Government to the Information Society”.

This project was developed by [byweb] and promoted by ADReDV (Development Agency of between Douro and Vouga Region) under the North Region Operational Programme ambit with the purpose of support the entrepreneurial development in the region.

At DVnet ambit:

> DIDÁCTICO
The Didactic Project, edited on www.didactico.net, complements the TiO Project making possible the self learning on several areas of knowledge: educative or scientific subjects that have themes since informatics, health, gardening, photography to themes that promote life in society. Didactic aspires to stimulate the elder self-learning through a guidebook that starts with a knowledge diagnostic and ends with a valuation of the acquired knowledge. The learning course it’s made in a way to induct to an active relationship between information and the user, putting at the user disposal manuals, articles, news and links to other thematic sites related to the formation theme.

By these projects impact became the idea to ally the intervention on the senior public to the intervention on the youth public. Thus, appeared Net@vô: a Project of Intergenerational Education that occurred in the School EB 2/3 of Corga de Lobão, Santa Maria da Feira. The education project was supported by the Institute of Educational Innovation, Education Ministry, because of being an “Original and creative project, essentially, on the education of society life and knowledge scope of an oral patrimony that is being extinguished, through intergenerational education”, and allowed the community elderly people the possibility to participate in an exhibition with young people, their descendents or not. Informal sessions were held which put face-to-face elderly and young people debating several matters.

> Digital worksops
Digital workshops: This project, supported by The Santa Maria da Feira Town Hall, allowed, among November 2000 and August 2001, the info-alphabetisation of 300 children and young people from the council, with ages among 6 and 16 years old. The educative activities for beginners to informatics and Internet deserved a very positive final valuation. To this project establishment, Byweb constituted partnership with MaxOffice and Netc.
